What it's like to work with me
Experience
My goal for every session is to capture your family as it is, chaos and all. With this in mind, I generally shoot with a more lifestyle approach. So, instead of using overly staged and stiff poses, we'll use prompts (like sit on the blanket, facing this direction because the light is beeeauuutiful and cuddle) and games (red light! green light!) to capture the genuine interactions, emotions, and magic moments that unfold organically.
We're able to get even more of those "in-between" moments when we collaborate and come up with some kind of activity that is meaningful for your family - something you love to do and want to capture. This could be as simple as explore a new trail, have a picnic, or play catch. It can be as involved as documenting that dinner-bath-bed marathon, spending an afternoon in your garden, or having an art session with your toddler. Whatever moments give you nostalgia already - I want to help you capture those.
No matter what we plan for your shoot - expect to have a great time with lots of laughter, hugs, kisses, and snuggles!

If you're looking for studio-lit photos or lots of posed images with everybody looking at the camera, I'm not the photographer for you. Also, if you're a grumpy dad and don't want to snuggle or play with your kids for an hour, please be on your merry way :)

I'll send over a questionnaire and we'll chat about what you have in mind for your session. Set on a location or activity? Great! If not, no problem - we'll plan together. I'll also send you a session guide with all kinds of info, including styling and preparation tips.
In a nutshell - I want you to be you and dress how you want. Though certain styles work better in certain locations so let's work together to find the best combo!
Let's make magic
Let's hang out and have fun. If you simply love on your family, your job is done :) During the session, we'll wander and talk, you might cuddle and dance, explore and play games. I love connection, the in-between moments, movement, and beautiful light. All of my sessions are child-led so if we need to pivot or take a snack break, I'm all for it.
Your Session
Images: within two weeks of your session, expect an email with a link to your gallery of images. You will receive a download pin and your gallery will remain active for one year after your session date.
Prints: Through your gallery, you will have the ability to purchase professionally printed and framed art, along with beautiful heirloom albums. You will also receive a print-release if you choose to obtain prints elsewhere.

The booking process is quick and easy.
Take a gander at my booking calendar, choose a date/time that works for your family. Once I get the request, I will send over your invoice and contracts. You sign and pay the retainer fee. Then on to the fun part!

Why are outdoor photos at sunrise/sunset?
Golden Hour! Golden hour is that sweet spot just after sunrise or just before sunset when sun is low on the horizon and the light is infused with red and gold tones, creating a soft, warm glow. When the sun is at this angle, photographers can manipulate the light in ways that bring your photos to the next level.
What is "lifestyle" photography?
Lifestyle photography is somewhere in between full-on documentary photography and posed portraiture. I use more guided posing and prompting to create natural looking moments, capturing candid photos that highlight your love and connection as a family.
I know my kids are going to act crazy - are you ready?
Heck yes, I am! It's totally okay if your kids are wild. I have two little ones of my own and know they run the show. In fact, I kind of want them to be extra during your session. I want to capture you wrangling your toddler or comforting your babe. These moments make up our everyday and are how we remember these days - why not make them into pretty pictures for you to keep?
What if it rains?
We'll chat about it :) If it's light rain - I'm totally up for embracing it and seeing where things take us. If that's not your jam, or it doesn't fit your vision, it's totally fine. We can reschedule!
